Live-Tweeting the Oscars 2011: Five Questions

Posted by on Feb 27, 2011 in film, social media, video | 0 comments

Last year, fellow blogger/academic/Oscar-fan, Annie Peterson put together a Golden Globes roundtable wherein the seven of us who live-tweeted the event waxed poetic about the host (Ricky Gervais), the winners/losers, the lavish get-ups, and William Hurt’s beard. Seriously, look at that beard. If it doesn’t scream “Live-tweet me!” I don’t know what does.

Since we’ve so many participants live-tweeting this year’s Academy Awards (nearly 40 so far), I thought I’d try something different for a post-show roundup: Five Questions. Short, simple, and to the point, these questions shouldn’t take willing participants much more than 5 minutes to answer. And, hey, it’ll be a nice way to get to know fellow tweeters and to promote your blog/site!

So to those fine academics, film lovers/haters, and other cool people spending their Sunday night in front of Twitter and the TV, send me your responses — along with your online name/alias/TwitterID and the link to your website/blog — after the Oscars (finally) go off the air.

The Big Five

  1. How long have you been a fan of the Academy Awards?
  2. What do you think was the most tweetable (i.e., memorable? news-worthy? ridiculous? unexpected? best?) part of this year’s broadcast, and why?
  3. Who had the best Twitter snark of the night? (Send the URL of the tweet, please.*)
  4. If you had to pick ONE of your tweets to sum up your overall feelings about this year’s Oscars, which would it be? (Again, the URL please.)
  5. Why did you decide to live-tweet the Oscars this year, and would you do so again? Why or why not?

* This is when “Twitter Favorites” comes in handy; mark any potential snarky candidates as Favorites so you can find them easily later on.
